Plunge

Sat., Jan. 21, 2017

Come to Warren County Winterfest on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and see a different breed of swimmer on the Beach at Chapman State Park! Watch as crazed enthusiasts take a dip in the icy-cold waters of the West Branch of the Tionesta Creek for a good cause! Registration fees benefit the Salvation Army’s Warren citadel.

The Polar Bear Plunge is dedicated to the late Patrick Shine (1948 - 2010), past chief of the Glade Township Volunteer Fire Department and part of the Glade Water Rescue Team. Chief Shine was a very active Winterfest volunteer, supervising the Polar Bear Plunge ice cutting and safety effort. He will be missed at Winterfest.

Whether you wish to take a swim or you just want to watch all the plunging action, you’ll want to get there early to beat the traffic. The event starts at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
